Dear
Friends,
On
behalf of the Board of Sharing Hope, I would like to take this
opportunity to wish each of you a wonderful Christmas Season and New
Year 2007. We wish to also thank each of you who were involved in
one way or another in one or more of our ministries this past year.
Your partnership is very important and encourages us as we continue
to seek to apply the message of Ephesians quoted above.
During
the past month, we have completed five new color brochures, which we
will eventually have available upon our web site as well. If you
have visited our new web site recently, you will see that it is under
construction and not yet functional. We hope to complete this
activity in the next months. The five brochures completed are:
-
A General Sharing
Hope International Brochure, which provides a brief report of the
activities undertaken through the end of this year.
-
Help Rebuild Southern
Sudan, Abwong Basic Educational Learning Center
-
Drip Irrigation &
Horticulture Production in Southern Madagascar
-
Northern Haiti Health
Ministry: Haut-Limbé Ebenezer Community Clinic
-
Groupe Yentemma,
Burkina Faso
With
this letter, you will be receiving a copy of the General Brochure.
Should you be interested in receiving a copy of one of the others, we
can send this to you either by hardcopy or by email. Just let us
know of your interest, and how you would like to receive it.
We
believe in developing long-term commitments to programs, and becoming
personally involved in every way possible. We would very much like
to encourage you to consider partnering with a small group of friends
or a church group to engage in becoming directly involved with at
least one of these activities – through prayer support, possibly
through volunteering yourself in some aspect of the program as it
evolves, through financial support. We will help you to develop
direct links with the people concerned, and will send you regular
updates from these programs as they communicate with us.
One
of the exciting ministries that has developed this year has been
support to a SIM International outreach activity in Southern Sudan,
for which we receive regular updates we could share with you,
described in the 2nd brochure mentioned above. We are
also becoming engaged for the first time in Burkina Faso. After three
years of program support to the Chinese Covenant Churches in Taiwan,
through more than 70 volunteers sent in training of conversational
English to elementary and middle school children there, Covenant
World Missions will this year be taking the lead in organizing this
growing program. It has been a great privilege for Sharing Hope to
be able to assist in the launching of this important effort.
Activities at the Ebenezer Clinic in Haiti have progressed well –
expanding to additional satellite clinics - and Rachael Downing
expects to return there for several months this summer to work with
Dr. Manno. We also hope to support efforts of Dr. Manno this coming
year as he visits different areas of the States to raise awareness of
these efforts and the needs.
I
would like to introduce to you the current Board of Directors of
Sharing Hope. The Chairman of the Board is Mr. Loren Morschen, an
architect, who has worked professionally in Madagascar for a number
of years and currently operates a firm in Minneapolis. Our
vice-chair and Financial Secretary is Mr. Bernard Glover, owner of
Glover Insurance Agency in the Twin Cities. Rev. Dennis Carlson, a
Twin City Covenant pastor, with long term missionary experience in
Oaxaca, Mexico, and Zaire, serves as our Secretary. We expect to be
adding at least two additional members to our board this year. Their
support and council over this past year has been valuable indeed!
May
the coming year be one of fulfillment and blessing to each of you and
your families.
